Chan: I thought my career was finished

Post  Scarlet on Sun Jul 06, 2008 9:37 am

Although his Rush Hour movie franchise has made millions at the US box office, Jackie Chan has admitted he never thought the action caper would be a hit.

"With Rush Hour One, I thought my career finished," he says. "But boom, it was a big hit. Then Rush Hour Two and Rush Hour Three. For the audience - not for myself I kept making those movies."

And life has changed for Jackie since the 1998 film. He's gone on to appear in Shanghai Noon, Around The World In 80 Days and voice a character on Dreamworks hit Kung Fu Panda.

"In Rush Hour One, my English was not that good and I was also very shy," Jackie recalls. "I didn't want to face the room, and also I had nothing to say. I didn't know how to socialise."

Nowadays Jackie is promoting the Olympics in China, and his latest film The Forbidden Kingdom also did brisk business at the US box office, taking the top spot when it was released in April. It will be out in the UK on July 9.
